At Rainbow Acres, we believe that having a job or special interest, and a reason to get up every morning, brings purpose and dignity to life. That belief shows up in many ways across the Ranch, and one of the clearest is the work our Ranchers do to care for the very place they call home.
Purposeful Work on the Maintenance Team
Recently, two Ranchers actively served on the maintenance team, reinforcing purposeful work made possible through a strong, supportive community. Their contribution is a reminder that keeping the Ranch running is not something that happens around our Ranchers. It is something they help make happen.
Why Work Matters Here
Work at Rainbow Acres is about far more than tasks completed. As we see it, purpose grows through meaningful work, growing independence, and deep community connections. A job gives shape to a day and a sense of belonging to a life, and each Rancher affirms their ability to contribute to and belong within our community.
Many Ways to Contribute
There is no single path to purposeful work here. Ranchers build confidence through on-ranch jobs, off-site employment, volunteer service, and shared community experiences. Guided by our vocational team, participating Ranchers can work on or off the ranch in volunteer or paid positions. Through Rainbow Academy, Ranchers can pursue their interests and enroll in vocational courses with hands-on training that leads to employment. Those who would like to work have many rewarding opportunities to learn job skills, earn money, gain self-esteem and engage with the community.
Work They Are Proud to Call Their Own
What ties all of this together is dignity. We champion each Rancher and their unique abilities, helping them apply their skills to a job or responsibility they are proud to make their own. Whether it is a role on the maintenance team or another job across the Ranch, the goal is the same: work that a person can point to and call their own.
The Ranchers who keep the Ranch running are doing exactly what Rainbow Acres exists to make possible, discovering and living out their life purposes, one meaningful day at a time.
