Spiritual Life
Spiritual life stems from relationships – with oneself, others and God – that enable us to embrace all of what we have – our strengths, needs, limits and gifts alike – and then live whole lives that do not require being perfect. Such lives are full of "spirit" and are characterized by a positive sense of one’s identity; by making a difference in the lives of others; and by strong connections with what is sacred in one’s life.
Rainbow Acres is a faith-based organization that nurtures a community based on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, yet we also are welcoming and inclusive of people of all beliefs. We strive to be supportive of the spiritual choices and faith traditions of each individual and family. Christian values and practices are integrated into our culture, such as mealtime prayer and behavior guidelines based on the Golden Rule; however, participation in activities is optional.
On campus, Ranchers may choose from a variety of options including daily morning Prayer Circle, weekly Bible Study, and monthly Prayer and Praise service. Off campus, Ranchers are encouraged to establish spiritual relationships in the community. We provide transportation and supervision for Ranchers to attend local churches or they can walk to The Rock Church, which is located adjacent to Rainbow Acres and has a dedicated pastor who knows our Ranchers by name and conducts non-denominational services uniquely tailored for them.
Rainbow Acres believes that spirituality is important to the overall well-being and health of our Ranchers. We encourage every Rancher to have a rich spiritual life, to grow in their faith, and to use their spiritual gifts for the benefit of the community. Our Chaplaincy Coordinator oversees the Spiritual Life program at Rainbow Acres and facilitates the participation of staff and volunteers in the leadership of spiritual life activities and pastoral care services.
